Just relax
After all isn't that why holidays were made for? Lay back in a sun lounger by our swimming pool and enjoy the nice weather. if you need a more active way to occupy your time you can follow some of our next suggestions.
Trekking
For people that simply love to walk, there are hundreds of places nearby where they can enjoy the wonders of this special Portuguese landscape. Stay alert for trekking signs; they will often appear on the surrounding mountains, showing the way to beautiful trails that extend for miles.
Touristy trips
Pick up your car (even better if it is 4x4) and do some touristy trips around the area and enjoy it diverse landscape. The best places to visit are often on the top of the mountains and some tracks will lead you into beautiful panoramic views. Some of the tracks however are only suitable for 4x4 vehicles; these ones will take you into some kind of safari! Deer, wild boar and other animals will look surprised with your presence!
Swimming
There are lots of places not far where you can practise this health activity: if you are willing to do a short enjoyable trip to the coast, you can find yourself swimming on the waves of the Atlantic ocean in one of the many white sandy beaches that Silver Coast offers. You might as well search one of the many river beaches like the ones in Louçainha (near Penela), Castanheira de Pêra and Mosteiro; if you want more fun you can visit Praia da Rocas in Castanheira de Pêra or the water park in Pombal. There are also minicipal covered swimming pools (Ansião, Penela, etc...) that allow the practse of swimming all year round.
Cycling
This is another healthy sport that you can practise in this area. There are many great biking trails nearby with no traffic or pollution. Enjoy the trails and the surrounding nature.
Fishing
There is excellent fishing in the local rivers. Licenses are easy available. You can find some good fishing spots at Figueiró dos Vinhos, Pedrogão Grande and other nearby places.
Bowling
For the lovers of bowling there is a centre in Pombal and another in Coimbra.
Karting
Karting is possible in a place called 'fun park' not far from Fátima.
Golf
If you are in the mood to play some golf you have a 9 holes course in Coimbra and a 18 holes near Óbidos. Alternatively play mini golf in Pombal.
Theatres
Go to the theatres and watch some of the most recent movies in English; that's right, all movies are kept in their original language, so just forget the subtitles and enjoy the movie. You have theatres in Ansião (weekends), Pombal (2 theatres) and Coimbra (16 theatres).
Enjoy the night
There are some lively bars in the region as well as some nice discos. If you are up to some dancing you cantry 'Palace Kiay' near Pombal, 'Inox' near Figueiró dos Vinhos, 'Twins club' near Pedrogão Grande, 'El Divino' on the way to Coimbra or if you are willing to travel a little bit further don't miss ' Império Romano' near Marinha Grande or 'The day after' near Viseu.
